Important Information for Farm Employers, Owners and Operators

New Webinar on the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act

In July, Governor Cuomo signed the Farm Workers Bill into law and established the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act, which takes effect on January 1, 2020. Under this law, there are important labor requirements for farm employers, owners and operators, including important changes regarding coverage requirements for workers’ compensation, disability benefits, and New York Paid Family Leave.

The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, which oversees these three insurance programs, is hosting a series of free online webinars to help farm employers, owners and operators understand and meet the new requirements. The one-hour sessions will provide an overview of what’s changed, and address questions from participants. Registration is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first served basis.
